Practice Areas and Experience

Eric B. Hull has experience prosecuting and defending all aspects of business litigation.  Mr. Hull’s commercial litigation practice includes representing businesses in breach of contract lawsuits, shareholder derivative actions and mortgage fraud suits.

Mr. Hull is also experienced in the areas of class action and election law. During law school, Mr. Hull published Independent Candidates’ Battle Against the Exclusionary Practices of the Commission on Presidential Debates, 90 Iowa L. Rev. 313 (2004). He also has presented seminars on the Class Action Fairness Act of 2005.

Representative Cases and Clients

  • Obtained judgment in favor of plaintiff in a trade secret case related to the defendant’s use of plaintiff’s financial information in a competitive bid environment.
  • Obtained the involuntary dismissal of a consumer fraud class action in an arbitration forum, which award was later confirmed in federal court.
  • Participated in the research and drafting of a post-trial motion that resulted in the Maricopa County Superior Court overturning a $35 million punitive damages jury verdict.
  • Assisted one of the world’s leading makers of musical instruments in responding to a FTC subpoena alleging anticompetitive practices.
  • Defended a title insurance company in a class action accusing the company of violating the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act.

Community Involvement

In addition to his commercial litigation practice, Mr. Hull has devoted time to pro bono work with the Volunteer Lawyers Project. Mr. Hull is a member of the Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce, the Scottsdale Bar Association and the Maricopa Bar Association.

Personal

Mr. Hull is from Bettendorf, Iowa. He is an avid Notre Dame football fan and owns two dogs he adopted from the Arizona Beagle Rescue. He is also the lead singer of an all lawyer rock cover band that has played in various venues in the Valley, including the ALS Association Arizona Chapter’s 2007 Tempe Walk to Defeat ALS at Tempe Town Lake.
